Last night Barack Obama
But today, the Obama Administration backed away from that statement and provided an alternative answer or a “clarification.”
Wasn’t Obama just boasting that he is very careful and practiced in matters of foreign policy? Wasn’t it Obama who said Romney “seems to have a tendency to shoot first and aim later”?
But guess who glibly answered a serious question and then thereafter had to backtrack?
That’s right, it was Barack Obama.
Barack Obama also said “It’s important for you to make sure that the statements that you make are backed up by the facts. And that you’ve thought through the ramifications before you make ‘em.” He suggested that he does that very well and that Romney is a risky shoot from the hip sort of guy.
But today, White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama’s statement was not signaling a change in Egypt’s status with the United States. “I think folks are reading way too much into this,” Vietor said. “‘Ally’ is a legal term of art. We don’t have a mutual defense treaty with Egypt like we do with our NATO allies. But as the president has said, Egypt is a longstanding and close partner of the United States, and we have built on that foundation by supporting Egypt’s transition to democracy and working with the new government.”
That’s double-talk.
Here’s a plain English translation: “Pres. Obama misspoke yesterday. He shot from the hip and aimed later. He wasn’t careful that his statements were backed up by the facts. He failed to think through the ramifications of what he said before he made the statement.”
I thought Obama was just telling us that he is careful with his words and knows how to do this foreign policy thing. But it sounds like Obama is the one who speaks first and aims later.
If you look at what Romney said about the State Departments stupid response to the growing mobs and violence outside the American Embassy in Cairo, Romney was 100% correct. Even Obama has been distancing himself from the State Department statement once Romney pointed out how outrageous it was. So Romney didn’t speak first and aim later.
The funny thing is that many in the mainstream media have been working overtime to create the narrative that Romney’s statement – one that was completely correct and has been vindicated by the fact that even the White House has disavowed and distanced themselves from the statement Romney criticized – disqualifies Romney from being president. That is completely over the top!
I wonder if now that Obama has clearly misspoken and shot from the hip without aiming and Mr. Romney has been completely vindicated, if the mind-numbed zombies in the mainstream media will now opine that Obama is disqualified from serving as president?
Don’t hold your breath!
Will the media cover Obama’s shoot first, aim later statements? Will they obsess over them for the next 24 hours and give the Obama’s clear gaffe nonstop attention for the next 24 hours? Will the media be caught on a live microphone colluding on how to shape the story as a huge negative for Obama?
Those are serious questions.
But there will be no serious answers from the mainstream media.
The mainstream media is largely dishonest and deceitful. It lacks intellectual rigor. It is lazy. It is no longer a matter of bias. It is well past that. It has become a matter of basic integrity, honesty and professionalism — something sorely missing in far too many of today’s newsrooms. The mainstream media has become blind propagandists for the left.
